We are located in a high desert river valley where we grow market vegetables, fruit, hay, and produce dairy/meat goats and poultry. Our current projects include constant gardening, building two greenhouses, rainwater harvesting, earthworks, developing reclamation and wildlife areas, designing an edible forest garden, and further implementing alternative energy and natural building techniques. We live in a passive solar, straw bale, off-grid home with PV and solar hot water. We are currently working on installing a wind turbine and building additional adobe/straw bale structures. Type of work involves gardening, animal care, general construction, and all-around help. One month, plus stays are best due to the training involved. Accommodations include a 16-ft yurt for one person or couple or areas to camp out. Other activities include trips to the farmers market, art, soap and cheese making, wild crafting, and building alternative energy and natural building works. We do not have an extra vehicle for use, but WWOOF’ers can catch a ride with us. Children and pets are possible. We have two small children and many pets so talk to us first. We speak English. A stipend is available for long term help who satisfy requirements.
